Video Poker is a popular game that usually will be gambled on in casinos around the globe, or in your house on your home computer, using a web connection. The regulations are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player attempting to get the best mixture of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, minus the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the player inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be given out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from game to game, so that experienced players are agile enough to select the most profitable game every time.

After the first round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Additionally, some styles of the game allow the bettor a chance to double their winnings, in which instance a further game is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
