Video Poker is a beloved game that is able to be bet on in casinos around the world, or in your house on your PC, through an Internet account. The rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best mixture of cards as you can in order to come away with money. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player inserts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will then be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the enthusiast has decided on which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable bettors are able to choose the most profitable ones each time.

Once the first round has completed, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the gambler an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which situation another game is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
